About The Role

Come make games at Aardman! We’re assembling a world-class team to build visually unique games, driven by inventive mechanics and compelling characters, and imbued with the humour, love and craftsmanship you’d expect from Aardman.

We’re working on an incredible new IP with a major publisher, and we’re looking for like-minded people who want to help us define what it means for Aardman to make games. People who are excited about having ownership and creative influence, who value transparency, and who want to build games that will be remembered.

About You

Core Responsibilities:
Creating amazing looking real time FX with UE4/UE5
Placing and triggering FX within the world (with the support of TA/Engineering)
Working with the Art, Design and Engineering teams to find solutions to artistic challenges.
Develop a deep understanding of the art direction and create effects to support the vision.
Create effects to realistic performance budgets and take ownership of the memory and performance costs of your effects.

Required Skills and Experience:
People have all sorts of different skills and life experiences. If you think you’d be great in this role, but don’t quite fit some of what’s below: get in touch, and let’s talk.
Experience of creating real-time particle effects in Unreal, especially Niagara.
Experience of using industry-standard content creation software (e.g. Maya, 3ds Max, Photoshop, Substance) to create assets to use in-engine.
Experience with Houdini, EmberGen, After Effects or similar is a bonus.
Experience with shaders is a bonus.
 
Desirable Skills:
Strong Unreal skills and experience with other appropriate features:
o Blueprints
o Material development
o Sequencer
Knowledge of game production pipeline and life cycle.
